Viewers Share Their 'Mother Moments!'
by Francis Dolores
When we first asked people to share how Mother had influenced their lives, we were overwhelmed by the response! Within an hour, over 500 people had posted comments, stories, and birthday greetings to EWTN's Foundress -- a woman we say is like "nun" other! Below is a sampling of your stories: (Note: We occasionally and sparingly clean up spelling, punctuation and grammar!)
"In the fall of 1997, while channel hopping one evening, I stumbled upon this nun reading in John 6, where Jesus said, 'Unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life within you.' I thought 'Boy, the Catholic bible is so graphic. I'll go get my New International Version and see what Jesus REALLY said'... [T]o my surprise and amazement, it said the same thing. That night began my journey home to the Catholic Church. This April 14th will be my 12th anniversary as a Catholic. Thanks be to God, EWTN, and our dear Mother Angelica!"
Denise [De Marco]
"I was called back to the Faith and a much deeper understanding of it in 2005 with the passing of John Paul II. EWTN and their coverage were instrumental in my return. I watched the events with great interest and I stuck around to enrich my knowledge of the faith and build on what little catechetical knowledge I had retained from a lifetime in Catholic schools. It is safe to say without Mother and what she has created, I would not be where I am in my faith, and for that I am greatly appreciative."
John Palusinski
"I couldn't even begin to put into to words what Mother has meant to me. I just entered the Church this Easter after a conversion experience last August. For seven months I watched EWTN, soaking up bits of teaching and wisdom. [T]he programming, especially 'The Journey Home,' the 'Catholicism' series, 'Women of Grace,' and 'Living the Discerning Life' have been invaluable to me. As a newbie to the Faith, I even enjoy the children's programming. But the most wonderful thing is being able to enjoy Mother Angelica's old programs which are so relevant still today - and often seem to speak directly to me about the things I am struggling with. Even though the show was taped 20 years ago - I feel like she's speaking to me. I just love her! Happy Birthday Mother! God bless you!"

"EWTN is truly the reason that my family is Catholic today."
Marc Latini
"In 1978, Mother was speaking at Sacred Heart College in Belmont N.C. I had a chance to go see her. While in the packed room, Mother stood at the podium and was sharing about God's love and mercy. I was at the back of the room. She looked right at me, eyes locked and said to everyone ..."In the beginning, when God was creating, He thought of you..." This statement profoundly affected me, changing my life. I became a Franciscan and am now an Archbishop. Now, so many years later, she remains one of my Spiritual Heroes. I have had the grace to have had several saints in my life and I am continually grateful to God for His great mercy to one such as I. Happiest of birthdays Mother! God bless you!!!"
Friar Aaron Edmund Cass
"Here in the Philippines .... 80% of the population are Catholics. Many Filipinos are influenced by Mother Angelica. [O]nly last December 12, [a] Reproductive Health bill was approved by Congress. Because of Mother's solid Catholic principles, we are very much inspired to fight and defend Pope Paul VI's ' Humane Vitae.' We are very much awakened to be pro-life advocates."
Nestor Limqueco
"I am not a Roman Catholic, but I always feel spiritually uplifted whenever I watch Mother Angelica. She is the perfect combination of spiritual idealism, practicality, and good humor. It's because of her that I have EWTN on my favorites list. Thank you, Mother Angelica, for always reminding me - and everyone else - that Jesus always loves us and if we will just sit still and listen we can hear God's voice all around us. Happy birthday and God bless you!
