ELCT releases membership figures for 2013
The Membership of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) by January 2012 was 6,139,879 compared to 5,825,312 members in 2011 having registered 314,567 new members, according to figures released by the Secretary General of the ELCT, Mr. Brighton Kilewa.He said the figures show an increase of 5.4 per cent from the previous year. The figures for the past five years are as follows: In 2007 there were 4,632,480 members; 2008 (4,956,731 members); 2009 (5,303,727 members); 2010 (5,601,217 members) and in January 2011 there were 5,825,312 members.
