Passing the mantle
This month CCT has been blessed with a new leadership team. This is following the constitutional directive to conduct election after every four years.
This year from 6th to 7th there CCT had a general meeting which takes plce after every four years. This is the highest meeting in CCT with powers among others to elect a chairperson and two vice chairpersons, together with making a decision on the appointment of the General Secretary.
For the past four years CCT was chaired by Bishop Dr. Peter Kitula of AICT with first vice chairperson Bishop Dr. Valentino Mokiwa of ACT and second vice chairperson Bishop Dr. Alex Malasusa of ELCT.
After serving as a second vice chairperson for the past four years, Bishop Dr. Alex Malasusa has now been elected to be the new chairperson of CCT for the next four years. On top of that, Bishop Godfrey Mdimi Mhogolo of ACT Diocese of Central Tanganyika and Bishop John Nyagwegwe of KMT Diocese of North Mara were elected as first and second vice chairpersons respectively.
CCT chairmanship is limited to two periods of four years, including first and second vice chairs.
The three bishops constitute the officers committee, which is not without the General Secretary. Following the fact that the current GS’s contract was to end in June 2014, the meeting also decided to extend the contract of the general secretary for three more years such that it ends in 2017.
Therefore the complete leadership team of CCT is:

Bishop Dr. Alex Malasusa – Chairperson (Second Right), Bishop Godfrey Mdimi Mhogolo – First Vice Chaiperson (Second Left), Bishop John Nyagwegwe – Second Vice Chairperson (Right) and Rev. Dr. Leonard Mtaita – General Secretary (Left)
Meanwhile CCT Plans To Invest In Residential Apartments
Drawings for residential apartments to be built in Oysterbay-Masaki, Dar es salaam
In reference to the current Investment Policy and Strategy, the Council is aiming at establishing ways of increasing local revenues to reduce the burden of dependence from external funding. One of these ways is to start investing in real estates as a way of generating local income to finance some of its programs.
Currently there are negotiations going on for possibilities to acquire a loan from financing institutions within and outside the country to enable the Council to construct two buildings of one storey each. The buildings will provide residential apartments that will be available for renting as a source of generating revenue locally for the Council to support its administrative and development programs. The buildings will be constructed at a plot no. 310 located in Oysterbay-Masaki area, Dar es Salaam. After completion, the buildings will offer 20 residential apartments for renting.
