Sauca and Prove appointed to World Council of Churches posts

Ioan Sauca of the Romanian Orthodox Church and Peter Prove, a Lutheran
lawyer and international affairs expert from Australia, have been named
to key staff positions in the WCC.
WCC encourages “swift and peaceful” action to restore Nigeria’s missing girls
The
abduction of more than 250 young women by the Boko Haram fighters in
Nigeria has prompted “profound concern” from the WCC, Rev. Dr Olav Fykse
Tveit. In his letter to Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan, Tveit
encouraged “swift and peaceful” action to restore these students back to
their homes.
WCC general secretary: War in South Sudan must end now
“The
senseless war in South Sudan must end now,” said the WCC general
secretary, following the pastoral visit of a high-level ecumenical
delegation to local churches in Juba, South Sudan on 2 May.
German ecumenical groups respond to call for “pilgrimage of justice and peace”
More
than 400 representatives of German ecumenical groups attending an
assembly in Mainz, Germany have affirmed their commitment to move
forward in a “pilgrimage of justice and peace” – a call from the WCC
10th Assembly.

Abused Women and Girls towards inner Dignity and Wholeness, Catherine
Mumbi Wanjohi, known for her work with sex workers facing the threat of
HIV and AIDS in Kenya.
